The filming of Stranger Things Season 4 is already underway but has stopped momentarily due to the coronavirus pandemic and its seriousness. But fans can expect the release shortly after as most parts have already been shot! In an Instagram live, David Harbour has revealed that one may expect the release in early 2021. The number of episodes to be expected from season 4 is anyone’s guess and depends all on the story the Duffer brothers have to tell its audience! For reference, the first season had eight episodes, while the second season had nine episodes, and season 3 returned with eight episodes. The rumors say that season 4 will also have eight episodes, just like Season 2, as unconfirmed as this is, a safe guess would be to assume a minimum of 8 episodes at least! The first episode is titled ” Chapter One: The Hellfire Club.”

What Year Will Season 4 Be Set In?

The past three seasons have all been set a year apart, starting with season 1, which was set in 1983, followed by season 2 set in 1984, and finally, season 3 that took place in 1985. Unless the Duffer Brothers decided to create a huge time leap, it seems like Season 4 may follow the same trend and be set in 1986. But the actors and actresses are aging fast and cannot play their young roles anymore! This may call for the creators to make the setting in the future a couple of years later, to make it seem more realistic, but all this is simply speculation, and there is no sure-fire way to know as yet.

What Will The Cast Of Season 4 Be?

It seems like all the favorites are sure to return in Season 4, but with the season 3 ending, there will definitely be a few missing.  Below is a list of those expected to return

Noah Schnapp – Will Millie Bobby Brown – Eleven Caleb McLaughlin – Lucas Gaten Matarazzo – Dustin Finn Wolfhard – Mike Sadie Sink – Max Winona Ryder – Joyce Byers Charlie Heaton, Natalie Dyer, and Joe Keery – full-time college students Priah Ferguson – Erica Maya Hawke – Robin Cara Buono – Karen Wheeler Bret Gelman – Murray David Harbour – Chief Hopper

In the latest season teaser trailer, Hopper can be seen alive and working in a snowy field in Kamchatka, Russia. His head is shaved, and his mustache has vanished, but he is very much alive! Dacre Montgomery will not be returning, though, as Billy was killed by the Mind-Flayer monster in the battle of Starcourt at the end of season 3.

Is Hopper Alive?

It has been confirmed that Jim Hopper is, in fact, alive and in prison in Russia! Along with the release of the teaser trailer, The Duffer brother released a statement saying. It seems like season 4 will explore Hopper’s backstory, and the teaser trailer is showing his working in a snowy field in Russia.

What To Expect In Season 4?

Season 4 would probably focus more on Eleven and whether she will get her powers back or not and how. Her power is to be able to move things with her mind and locate people in the void, but after the battle at the mall, she seems to have lost these powers. Thanks to Russia, the Upside Down threat is now at large, and so it doesn’t seem to belong before Eleven tries to regain her powers to help her friends. This will also mostly help her locate Hopper as well! Speaking of Hopper, it has now been confirmed that he is American. The Russians are now in possession of a Demogorgon, but no one knows how they got it. They now plan to weaponize it. It seems quite possible that the MIA Dr. Brenner might be responsible for this! The Upside Down will also be the main focus in Season 4. On the romantic side of things, it seems like Eleven and Mike’s relationship will be put to the test. Robin came out to Steve, and he still remains single. While Max and Lucas were still a thing at the end of Season 3, Dustin and Suzie’s relationship might be a part of the new season too! Because of college and distance, Nancy and Jonathan’s relationship will become more difficult. As for Joyce and Hopper, the fans are excited to see where that will go! The end of Season 3 also saw a gang split where Joyce Byers finally moved out of Hawkins, taking Eleven and Will with her while Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Max stayed behind along with Nancy, Steve, Robin, and Erica. Season 4 is likely to explore this new dynamic.
